How to Choose a Padel Racket

Stacked padel rackets and yellow balls

Start with your current game, then narrow the choice by shape, balance and feel.

Start with the shots you can repeat

A racket should support the game you play most often. If consistent contact is still a work in progress, look for a manageable balance and a forgiving response. A professional player’s model is not automatically a useful starting point.

  • Write down your level and how often you play.
  • Decide whether control, easy depth or attacking power is the immediate priority.
  • Set a total budget that leaves room for shoes and replacement grips.

Read shape and balance together

Compare shape together with balance, weight and grip setup. Use round, teardrop and diamond categories to narrow your choices, then compare the models within each group.

Try the racket over a full session

Include volleys, defensive shots off the glass and overheads. Notice whether you can prepare on time near the end of the session. A racket that feels impressive for five minutes may be tiring over a match.

Before You Buy

Check the exact model year, stated weight range, return conditions and availability in your country. Manufacturer specifications and a player’s subjective impressions answer different questions; keep both visible when comparing.

Separate the face, frame and core

Air Veron 2.6 has a Carbon Flex face, carbon frame and Black EVA core. Genius 12K Alum Xtrem Lite 2027 has a 12K Alum Xtrem carbon face, carbon frame and HR3 White EVA core.
